PRESS RELEASE
WHEELING, IL — Now the Cremation Association of North America Crematory Operations Certification Program™ (CANA COCP™) provides best practices in Alkaline Hydrolysis (AH), too! Designed for states that have legalized AH, CANA’s new certification builds on the original with specialized instruction developed with input from leading AH manufacturers. Crematory operators now have the option to be certified in flame cremation only, or both flame cremation and alkaline hydrolysis at the same time!
Did you know that CANA has certified more than 10,000 crematory operators, owners, managers, funeral directors, cemeterians, and students since the Association invented the crematory operations certification concept 37 years ago? The ongoing relevance of the CANA COCP is amply demonstrated each year, as the association continues to train nearly 1,000 professionals annually. Since 2017, CANA has offered its popular interactive online, on-demand certification, providing a convenient self-paced version that’s perfectly designed to accommodate busy schedules.
What does CANA COCP Certification mean? Not only does the program meet the certification requirement of 19 states, but it also fulfills CE obligations in many states and provinces. However, most professionals choose to earn their CANA Certification voluntarily.
What is the value of being CANA COCP Certified? Written and designed in collaboration with crematory manufacturers, owner/operators, practitioners, and legal authorities, the CANA COCP curriculum is the only truly multi-perspective program out there.
CANA is a recognized and valued brand. Both within the industry and to the public at large, the Association is known as the expert on all things cremation. This prominence is demonstrated by the tens of thousands of consumers searching the CANA member database or calling the association headquarters for referrals to CANA members. Each year, CANA fields more than 300 media inquiries and its blog receives more than 10,000 views. The CANA annual statistics report is seen as the most reliable and trusted source for all media outlets on cremation rates and trends.
Crematory owners and operators across North America recognize the relevance and the value of the program. Whether taken online or in-person, the course is a mix of expert lecture, technology, animation, and interactive exercises—a program that’s consistently lively and fun! The COCP manual has been translated into French language for practitioners in Quebec and people have traveled from as far away as the Philippines and Guam to take CANA’s training. Some of the most successful and respected schools in the death care industry currently use the CANA COCP training in their curriculums.
