WHEELING, IL — For almost 40 years, the Cremation Association of North America (CANA) has provided the gold standard for Crematory Operations Certification in the industry. Not only does the CANA Crematory Operations Certification Program™ (CANA COCP™) meet the certification requirement of 19 states, but it also fulfills state CE obligations for up to eight hours. For 2023, CANA announces opportunities for professionals to earn their certification in-person or online across the country.

Today, alkaline hydrolysis is legal in more than half of United States. Ready to meet this growing need, the CANA Crematory Operations Certification Program features best practices in all forms of cremation, including alkaline hydrolysis (AH). Both in-person and online trainings offer instruction created with input from leading AH manufacturers to ensure professionals have the latest information.

Offering a full schedule in 2023, CANA provides multiple opportunities for crematory operations certification:

Whittier, CA – March 9: Tom Krowl of Cremation Systems and Dave Daniels of law firm ElGuindy, Meyer & Koegel, APC head to southern California for the first in-person training of 2023.

Wheeling, IL – May 5: Larry Stuart, Jr. of Raven Plume Consulting and Dave Daniels share their crematory operations expertise with attendees in the Chicago area.

Washington, D.C. – August 9: Tom Krowl and Wendy Wiener of WRW Legal visit the nation’s capital for late summer certification. All are invited to stay and celebrate CANA’s 105th Cremation Innovation Convention that week in the same hotel!

Albany, NY – October 10: John Mitchell of IR Environmental and Wendy Wiener offer New York State-specific training in collaboration with the New York State Division of Cemeteries and the New York State Association of Cemeteries.

Houston, TX – November 3: Larry Stuart, Jr. and Dave Daniels wrap up the year at the National Museum of Funeral History to discuss crematory operations with students and professionals alike.

Additional in-person training opportunities may be added. Find a full list of COCP training opportunities and register at goCANA.org/calendar.

CANA’s Online Certification program helps busy funeral professionals earn their crematory operations certification on their schedule and from their device. Like the in-person version of the course, the Online COCP includes interactive and engaging content on alkaline hydrolysis and flame cremation – much more than a recorded lecture! Plus, the online version allows professionals to work at their pace and to pause or resume on their schedule.

Whether in-person or online, the COCP is a mark of distinction and ensures that employees have the most current crematory operations training developed in collaboration with crematory manufacturers, owner/operators, practitioners, and legal authorities. Plus, CANA is a recognized and valued brand for all things cremation so funeral professionals benefit from the decades of cremation expertise.

Registration is just $595 for both in-person and online training opportunities, and CANA Members, students, and service members receive discounts on this valuable certification! Learn more about the CANA Crematory Operations Certifications Program and demo the online course on the CANA website: goCANA.org/COCP.
